General Practitioner

We are looking for a General Practitioner to work in Porirua, Wellington.

The General Practitioner will work on the Ratona Rua o Porirua campus of Te Korowai Whariki.  Clients of the service are long term inpatients with mental health or intellectual disability issues.  The specialist care is provided by the resident specialist staff such as psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, mental health nurses, social workers and the like.

The GP along with a practice nurse will operate an 8 hour clinic once every week. Patients are booked in advance and relevant clinical notes and charts are provided to the GP. Patients normally take about 30 minutes each. The GP examines the patients and prescribes appropriate medication, and gives health advice to the patient and their carers.
