Medical Officer Special Scale, Opioid Treatment Service – Wellington, New Zealand
A Medical Officer is needed for the Opioid Treatment Service of a large District Health Board based in Wellington, New Zealand, which is a regional specialist service. The target population has severe opioid dependence, for which methadone is used in most cases.
As our clients’ Medical Officer, you will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide optimal treatment for the client group. You will be responsible for the medical assessments, treatment and follow-up of consumers accessing the service with the supervision of the Addiction Specialist. You will work closely with case managers and attend weekly team meetings. You will be committed to contributing to service development, quality initiatives and research.
Experience in the Alcohol and Drug field is desirable. Training and clinical oversight from addiction specialists will be provided.
Fellowship of New Zealand or Australian Colleges of Psychiatry, Physicians, General Practice, Anaesthetics, Emergency Medicine, or of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine, or equivalent (or working towards such qualification) are an advantage but not essential .
